The Whale Whittling Blank is designed for beginner to intermediate carvers — shaped to give you a strong starting point and milled from select grain pine for an enjoyable, low-stress carve. Set aside a relaxed weekend afternoon: most carvers get a satisfying result in 3–4 hours.

Quick Tips:
Start by releasing the figure from the frame. There are four tabs around the perimeter — cut from both sides to free it.
Don't work on fine detail until the very end.
Focus on the general shape first.
Work on rounding the edges in long carves that run along the grain and away from your body.
